4-106. AIR RELEASE VALVE AND GASKET.
a.
General. The air release valves (fig. 4-92) are located on top of the filter housing covers. They are for releasing
air trapped in the filter housing covers, or effluent side of the filter elements.

Removal.
(1)
Remove two screws (1, fig. 4-92) and remove shield (2) from air release valve.
(2)
Remove six screws (3) and washers (4) from filter housing cover (6).
(3)
Lift straight up on air release valve and remove from filter.
(4)
Remove gasket (5) from filter housing cover.
c.
Inspect. Inspect the valve for cracks, dents, and warped flange. Check the operating lever in all positions to see
if it will move freely. Inspect the gasket for cracks, and deterioration.
