Check cooling and makeup water Flowmeters are flowmeters to assure they are not clogged. clogged with mineral deposits or rust. Remove and clean when necessary as follows: 1) Turn the black valve knob counter- clockwise until the threads are disen- gaged.  Then withdraw the stem from the valve by gently pulling on the knob. 2) Remove the two large mounting bracket screws which secure the flowmeter to the system. 3) Unscrew the four recessed screws located on the back side of the flowmeter, then gently pull the body from the rear plate.  Keep the body parallel with the back plate to prevent undue strain on the body. 4) Remove the slip cap with a push on a screwdriver, then remove the plug ball stop using a 1/2 in Allen wrench. 5) Remove the ball float by inverting the body and allowing the ball to fall into your hand.  (Cover the discharge port to avoid losing the float thru that opening.) 6) Clean the flow tube and flowmeter body with ordinary soap and water. Do not use liquid soaps or detergents which may contain chlorinated sol- vents. 7) Reassemble the unit by reversing the procedure outlined; then place the flowmeter in service. c.  Adjust makeup water flowmeter flow rate for higher flow rate during summer months and lower flow rate during winter months.  Local climatic conditions deter- mine final flow rate. 4-7
