EngineDisassembly and AssemblyInstall Alternator 1405-0121.Put alternator (1) in position, and install bolt (4) fingertight. Put belt (3) in position on the pulleys, and installbolt (2). Tighten bolt (4).2.Use a belt tension gauge such as a Borroughs ToolCompany Part No. BT-33-72C or equivalent and makean adjustment to the belt tension. Tighten a new beltuntil the gauge indication is 535 + 22 N (120 ± 5 lb.).Tighten a used belt until the gauge indication is 400 + 44N (90 + 10 lb.). Tighten the bolts that hold the alternatorin position. Used belt tension is for a belt which hasmore than 30 minutes of operation at rated speed of theengine.3.Connect all wires (5) to the alternator.Fuel Injection LinesRemove Fuel Injection Lines 1252-0113304 Engine Shown1.Clean the area around each fuel line connection.2.Disconnect all fuel injection line nuts (1) at the fuelinjection pump housing.NOTICEDo not let the tops of the fuel nozzles turn when thefuel lines are loosened. If the tops of the nozzlesturn, the nozzles will be damaged.3.Hold the tops of the fuel nozzles with a wrench, anddisconnect all fuel injection line nuts (3) at the fuelnozzles as shown.4.Remove bolts (2) and the spacers that hold the fuelinjection lines to the cylinder head. Remove the fuelinjection lines.5.Put 5F3807 Caps and 2F2990 Plugs on the fuelinjection lines, pumps, and nozzles to keep dirt andforeign material out of the fuel system.9
