General (Refer to Table 3-3)
a. This section contains troubleshooting in-
formation for locating and correcting most of the
operating troubles, which may develop in the steam
cleaner.
Each
malfunction
for
an
individual
component, unit or system is followed by a list of
tests or inspections, which will aid in determining
probable causes and corrective actions. The tests/
inspections and corrective actions should be
performed in the order listed.
b. This manual does not list all malfunctions that
may occur, nor all tests, inspections or corrective
actions. If a malfunction is not listed or is not
corrected by the listed corrective actions, notify the
maintenance supervisor and/or refer to higher
maintenance level.
NOTE
Before using table 3-3, all applicable operating
checks shall be performed.

1. Burner will not ignite.
a. Check power to unit and that main
switch is not off.
a. If there is no power to unit,
determine problem and correct it.
Turn on the main switch.
b. On-fuel-off valve is closed.
b. Open the on-fuel-off valve at least
one full turn.
c. Burner flameout not reset.
c. Reset flameout control.
d. High temperature switch not reset.
d. Reset high temperature switch.
e. Insufficient and/or wrong type of
fuel
e. Change and/or add proper fuel.
2. Low pressure at guns.
a. Inadequate water supply to pumps,
a. Check reservoir and float for proper
level. Normal level is 1" to 2" below
overflow pipe.
b. Inadequate water supply to
equipment.
b. Check water supply for capability of
650 GPH.
c. Improper size of cleaning gun nozzle
or nozzle is worn.
c. Check for large or worn nozzle, as
improper nozzle will cause operating
pressure to decrease.
d. Soap agitator valve open, belts
slipping, by-pass regulator leaking.
d. Inspect all lines for leaks and
tighten as required. Check soap
agitator valve, close and reset, check
belts and tighten as required.
3. Excessive operating pressure at
guns.
a. Improper nozzle size on gun. Ex-
cessive back pressure discharges
system.
a. Nozzles are too small and will not
allow proper pressure range, change
to proper size. Inspect gun and hose
for any restrictions.
b. Improper operational mode
b. Correct operational mode.
4. Unit operates roughly.
a. Air dome needs draining.
a. Drain air dome.
5. Burner cuts off too soon.
a. Fuel supply too low.
a. Replenish fuel supply.
