2-51. OIL FILTER AND BASE REPLACEMENT/REPAIR (CONT)
e. Filter Installation
1
Apply light coat of engine oil to oil filter gasket.

Install oil filter. Hand-tighten.

Remove oil filler cap.

Pour 8 qt of oil (MIL-L-2104) in oil filler.

Install oil filler cap.

Start engine. See TM 10-4610-229-10.) Let engine warm.

Stop engine. (See TM 10-4610-229-10.)

Wait 1 minute. Pull dipstick from dipstick tube and wipe clean.
9
Insert dipstick in tube and push into seat.
10 Pull out dipstick and check oil level. Fill as required to bring level between MIN and MAX lines. Install dipstick.
