Remove gasket from assembly. Discard gasket.
CAUTION
There is a small amount of pressure pushing downward when removing safety valve plug. Be
careful not to lose the steel ball or compression spring.

Unscrew safety valve plug. Remove plug, seal, compression spring, and steel ball from valve sleeve.
c. Cleaning
WARNING
Solvent may cause toxic fumes. To prevent personal injury, work only in well-ventilated area.
Do not breathe fumes for a long time.
Solvent is flammable. To prevent fire or explosion, do not bring sparks or open flame near
solvent.

Clean all metal parts with solvent.

Wipe dry.

Inspect parts for damage. Replace damaged parts.
d. Base Assembly and Installation
CAUTION
When tightening plug do not damage seal. Damaged seal could create oil leak.

Install steel ball, compression spring, seal, and plug in valve sleeve. Tighten plug.

Clean gasket mounting surfaces. Install gasket on oil filter base assembly.

Install oil filter base assembly, aligning inlet and outlet ports with oil lines.
4 Install. three mounting bolts and flatwashers.

Install two oil lines in inlet and outlet ports.

Install oil pressure gage line.

Install oil filter (subpara e).
