2-52. ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT (CONT)
a. Testing

Adjust fanbelt (para 2-48).

Unbuckle battery box strap. Remove battery box cover.

Set multimeter to 15-volt scale.

Connect positive (+) lead to POS (+) terminal of battery.

Connect negative (-) lead to NEG (-) terminal of battery.

Check voltage.

Watch multimeter. Start engine. (See TM 10-4610-229-10.)

Check reading. It should be 12 to 14.8 volts. If it is not, replace alternator.

Stop engine and remove multimeter.

Install battery box cover. Buckle strap.
