Remove drive assembly, washer, bushing, and plate from armature shaft.

Remove and discard bushings from drive housing and commutator end cover. Remove and discard centering
bearing.
b. Inspection and Repair
WARNING
To prevent injury to eyes, wear goggles when using compressed air.

Clean components and dry with compressed air.

Inspect all components for damage. Replace as required.
NOTE
Do not turn the commutator or undercut the insulation on this motor.

Using emery cloth, clean the commutator.

Using a dial indicator, check commutator for out of round.

Using a growler and steel strip, check armature for shorts.

Using a test lamp, check that insulation between armature windings is intact.
7
Check brush springs for firmness. Replace springs if discolored or damaged.
NOTE
Brushes must be replaced as sets.
8
Check brushes for wear. Replace worn brushes.
