3-83. HIGH PRESSURE PUMP ASSEMBLY REPAIR (CONT)
c. Assembly
CAUTION
To prevent damage to pump:
· Make sure work area and parts are free of all dirt, metal chips, lint, and other foreign material.
· Do not install used bearings or self-locking nuts.
1 Place rotor on rotor assembly stand with driveshaft bore facing up.
2 Heat drive shaft bore to 140-160°F. Use heat chalk to check temperature.
3 Install driveshaft, alining marks made during disassembly. Aline holes in driveshaft flange with holes in rotor.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to pump, do not tighten drive shaft flange bolts until rotor and driveshaft are
same temperature.

Install bolts. Torque bolts to 100 ft lb.

Install bearing retainer and wave spring on drive shaft.

Heat shaft slinger to 150°-175°F. Check temperature with heat chalk.

Install slinger on shaft against shoulder.

Heat bearing sleeve 175°-200°F. Check temperature with heat chalk.

Install rotor bearing in bearing sleeve with wide side of outer race against bearing sleeve.

Heat bearing sleeve and rotor bearing to 150°-175°F. Check temperature with heat chalk.

Install sleeve with bearing on driveshaft.
13 Put rotor end oil slinger on driveshaft. Tap down until bearing and sleeve is properly seated.
