NOTE
Mark housing covers to ensure covers return to proper side and positions.
a. Remove four screws (1, Figure 2-14) and remove fan cover (2).
b. Loosen and remove clamp (3) and fan (4).
c. Loosen and remove four through bolts (6), nuts (5), fan back cover (7). Spring washer (8) will come off with
housing.
d. Remove three screws (10) from front cover (12) and retainer (11). Front cover is now free.
e. Remove rotor shaft (14) from stator housing (15).
f. Using a bearing puller, remove bearings (9 and 13) from rotor shaft. Retainer (11) now free.
WARNING
Electrical high voltage can cause serious injury or death. Some tests require power to
be connected. Always take proper measures to ensure personal safety.
Place rotor in growler and check for shorts and open connections.
a. Repair consists of replacement of faulty or nonserviceable components.
b. Refer to TM 9-214 for bearing replacement.
REASSEMBLY.
a. Install retainer (11). Install bearings (9 and 13).
b. Install rotor shaft (14) in stator housing (15).
c. Install front cover (12) on bearing (13) and secure by installing screws (10) through cover (12) into retainer (11).
d. Place spring washer (8) in back cover (7) and place on bearing (9).
e. Install through bolts (6) and nuts (5).
f. Place fan (4) over shaft and secure with clamp (3).
g. Mount fan cover (2) and secure with four screws (1).
