Clean, Inspect, and Replace.
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent, P-D-680, used to clean parts is potentially dangerous to personnel and property.
Wear chemical resistant gloves when using solvent, and avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact.
Do not use near open flame or excessive heat. Flash point of solvent is 100 degrees F to 138
degrees F (38 degrees C to 59 degrees C) (1) Clean all parts in drycleaning solvent.
(2)
Inspect screen, gaskets, and plunger for damage.
(3)
Replace damaged gaskets, and fuel pump if it is unserviceable.

Reassembly.
(1)
Position plunger spring (12, fig. 4-34) on small end of plunger and place spring and plunger in pump body
(13).
(2)
Press spring cup (11) down on spring (12) and plunger (13).
(3)
Install valve spring (10) and valve (9) into spring cup (11).
(4)
Install washer (7), retainer (6) and magnet (5) into filter element (8) and install element into assembly.
(5)
Position gasket (4) over element (8), and end cover (2) over gasket (4), and secure cover to pump (3) by
pressing entire assembly down and inserting screws (1).

Installation.
(1)
Secure pump body (3, fig. 4-10) to mounting bracket (1) with screws (2) and self-locking nuts (17).
