4-45. RAW WATER OR DISTRIBUTION PUMP COVER PLATE.
a.
General. The pumps have a cover plate on the end of the pump case that is easily removed for inspecting the
inside of the pump case and the impeller. It must be removed to clean out the pump and adjust the peeler.
b.
Removal.
(1)
Open draincock (4, fig. 4-38) and drain pump.
(2)
Loosen two shoulder bolts (3) and remove cover plate
(2)
from pump case (1).
c.
Replace. Replace cover plate if it is cracked or damaged.
d.
Installation.
(1)
Position cover plate (2, fig. 4-38) in pump case (1) with hooks under shoulder bolts (3).
(2)
Secure cover plate (2) to case (1) by tightening shoulder bolts (3).
(3)
Close draincock (4).
(4)
Prime pump if it is to be operated.
