4-47. ERDLATOR AGITATOR DRIVE MOTOR PULLEYS.
a.
General. There are two pulleys in the erdlator agitator drive system. One is on the drive motor and the other on
the drive shaft.
b.
Removal.
(1)
Turn hand wheel (7, fig. 3-9) clockwise to loosen drivebelt (4).
(2)
Remove belt from drive pulleys (3 and 5).
(3)
Remove screws (8, fig. 4-35) and raise pillow block bearing (5) off bearing mount (9) far enough to allow
removal of belt (7).
(4)
Loosen pulley setscrews.
(5) Remove pillow block bearing (5), pulleys and Woodruff keys.
c.
Inspection.
(1) Inspect pulleys for chips, cracks, worn grooves or worn bore.
(2)
Inspect keys for burrs or other damage.
(3)
Replace defective pulleys or keys.
d.
Installation.
(1)
Install keys and pulleys on shafts and tighten set screws.
(2) Position pillow block bearing (5, fig. 4-35) on drive shaft.
(3)
Raise pillow block bearing (5) and slide drivebelt (7) over bearing.
(4)
Install screws (8) and secure with lockwashers and nuts.
(5)
Position drivebelt (4, fig. 3-9) on drive pulley (3) and in second groove of drive motor pulley (5).
(6)
Align drivebelt by loosening setscrew (2) and moving drive pulley (3) to right or left on erdlator drive shaft
(1).
(7)
When drivebelt is aligned with both pulleys, tighten setscrew (2).
(8)
Adjust tension of drivebelt (4) by turning handwheel
(7)
counterclockwise to tighten. Adjustment is correct when belt can be depressed about an inch at a point
midway between pulleys.
