Introducing filter aid and precoating.
(a)
The concentration of diatomaceous earth slurry for the initial charge is 1/2 pound per gallon of
water, as shown on the calibration chart, figure 2-25.
(b)
Use the aluminum measure and measure out 1/2 pound of diatomaceous earth into it.
(c)
Place diatomaceous earth in 3-gallon rubber pail and add 1 gallon of coagulated water to pail
and mix well.
NOTE
Coagulated water may be obtained for a general purpose from valve CV-15 (7, fig. 2-15) (d) Pour
diatomite slurry from pail into precoat funnel (18, fig. 2-23).
