Start filter pump by pressing the switch START buttons (7 and 8, fig. 2-1).

Bleed air from filter housing through filter air vent gate control valve CV-38 (1, fig. 2-23) until
water starts escaping; close valve CV-38.
NOTE
Do not close valve CV-38 (1) while air is escaping from the filter housing cover (3).

When effluent pressure indicator gage PG-3 (8) reads 30 psi, open gate control valve CV-40
(11).

Allow filter to operate on recirculation until precoat on filter element is clearly visible through
window (20, fig. 2-23) in filter housing.

Set flow controller valve CV-45 (6, fig. 2-23) at 25 gpm.

Turn effluent plug control valve CV-46 (5) to F (filter) position.
(c)
Open effluent gate control valve CV-51 (3, fig. 2-26) on the filtered water line to storage tanks.
