2-48. FAN COVER, FANBELT, AND PULLEY REPLACEMENT (CONT)
d. Fan Cover and Fanbelt Installation/Fanbelt Adjustment

Install fanbelt on crankshaft, fan, and alternator pulleys.

Move alternator away from engine.

Place straight edge on damper and fan pulleys.

Press fanbelt down. Check belt deflection halfway between pulleys. Deflection should be 1/2 to 3/4 in. Adjust
fanbelt by moving alternator away from or toward engine.

Tighten alternator adjusting and mounting screws.
6
Install fan cover. Install seven bolts, lockwashers, and six nuts.
