Volute Housing. Check for cracks, leaks, and other
damage. If housing is damaged, notify your supervisor.

Diesel Engine. Check ring lever and speed control
screw for proper operation. If speed control not
operating properly, notify your supervisor.

Fuel Tank and Lines. Inspect fuel tank and filler neck
filter for damage. Replace as required (para 2-26).
Inspect fuel lines for damage and leaks. Replace as
required (para 2-21).

Fuel Pump. Check for cracks, leaks, and loose mounting
hardware. Tighten loose mounting hardware. Replace as
required (para 2-30).

•
Air Filter. Inspect air filter and gasket for proper
installation, cracks, breaks, and loose connections.
Replace as required (para 2-28).

Starter. Check for loose mounting hardware and wire
connections. Tighten as required. Start engine. (See
TM 10-4610-229-10.) Listen for unusual noise while
starting. Replace starter as required (para 2-31).

Muffler Assembly. Check for cracks, leaks, and loose
mounting hardware. Tighten hardware. Replace muffler
if cracked or leaking.

Nozzle Holder. Check for loose mounting hardware and
leaks. Tighten loose mounting hardware.

Hand Crank Assembly. When handcranking engine, check
for difficult cranking and operation of decompression
lever. If inoperable, notify your supervisor.

Cooling System. Check area around engine cylinder head
for dirt and trash. Clean cylinder head and cylinder
head fins. (Sec TM 10-4610-229-10.)
