3-49. ALTERNATOR REPAIR (CONT)

Using socket-head screw key, keep shaft from turning. Remove nut, washer, pulley, and fan.

Remove duct cover.

Remove four thru bolts.

Separate front housing from rear housing.

Press rotor from front housing.

Remove small collar from front housing.
8
Remove seal from front housing.

Remove four retainer plate mounting bolts.

Remove retainer plate assembly from inside front housing.

Push bearing from front housing.

Remove large collar from rotor.
13
Remove gasket and seal from retainer plate.

Remove bearing well plug from rear housing.
15
Press out rear bearing.

Tag and disconnect all wires.

Remove nut. Remove regulator.
18
Remove screw, lockwasher, and clamp. Remove capacitor.
19
Remove two screws, lockwasher, and spacer. Remove rectifier bridge.
20
Remove five field coil mounting screws. Remove field coil from housing.
21
Inspect all components for damage and wear. Replace as required.
