WATER PUMP REPAIR (CONT)3Remove adapter.4Remove impeller mounting screw and washer.5Using puller, remove impeller from water pump shaft.6Remove spring and seal from water pump shaft.7Remove four retainer and shaft mounting screws.8Remove center screw and washer.9Remove shaft assembly from housing.10Remove O-ring from housing.11Remove seal from housing.12Remove ceramic ring from housing.13Using puller, remove gear from shaft.14Remove retainer, bearing, spacer, and bearing from shaft.15Inspect all parts for wear and damage. Replace as required.b. Assembly1Press bearing, spacer, bearing, and retainer on shaft.2Install gear on shaft.3 Install washer and center screw.CAUTIONTo prevent damage to ceramic ring:Use water only as lubricant during installation of ring.Do not put hands on wear surface of ring.NOTESmoothest face of ceramic ring goes next to carbon seal assembly. An installation tool isprovided with replacement ring.4 Install ceramic ring on seal.3-160
