Install bearing retainer. Secure to power takeoff housing with six bolts. Tighten cap bolts to a point where
bearing free play is just eliminated.
14
Rotate shaft several times. Seat and aline rollers.
15
Using a feeler gage, measure gap between bearing retainer and power takeoff housing. Record measurement.
16
Add 0.006 in. to measurement to compute bearing free play.
17
Select shims of this thickness.
18
Remove six bolts and bearing retainer from power takeoff housing.
19
Install shims over shaft and onto bearing retainer mounting surface on power takeoff housing.
20
Install bearing retainer. Install six bolts. Torque to 38-42 ft lb.
21
Attach dial indicator to power takeoff housing with stem resting on input end of power takeoff driveshaft.

Raise power takeoff shaft with a lifting device to move forward bearing race against bearing retainer. Power
takeoff housing may have to be tapped downward.
23
Zero dial indicator with lifting device released.

Raise driveshaft with lifting device.
25
Rotate driveshaft several times to seat and aline rollers. Record dial indicator reading.
26

bearing adjustment. If adjustment is not correct, repeat steps 13 through 26.
