TM 10-4610-229-243-69. POWER TAKEOFF REPAIR (CONT)10Remove rubber oil seal from housing.11Remove snapring.12Tap oil seal forward. Remove oil seal.13Tap bearing rearward. Remove bearing.14Using bearing puller, remove bearing race from power takeoff drive shaft.15Remove six bolts. Remove bearing retainer and shims.16Install eyebolt in end of the drive shaft.17Connect a suitable lifting device to eye bolt.NOTEIt may be necessary to tap power takeoff housing to unseat forward bearing cup.18Lift drive shaft from housing.19Using bearing puller, remove bearings and races from drive shaft.20Tap oil seal from power takeoff housing.22Remove two bearing access pipe plugs.23Using long narrow shank punch, tap out rear bearing race.NOTEPerform step 24 only if data plate must be replaced.24Remove four screws. Remove data plate.b. Assembly1If removed, install data plate. Install four screws.2Install pipe plugs bottom of power takeoff housing. Torque to 7.5-10 ft lb.3Install oil drain plug. Torque to 35-47 ft lb.3-180
