TM 10-4610-229-24 3-69. POWER TAKEOFF REPAIR (CONT) 10 Remove rubber oil seal from housing. 11 Remove snapring. 12 Tap oil seal forward. Remove oil seal. 13 Tap bearing rearward. Remove bearing. 14 Using bearing puller, remove bearing race from power takeoff drive shaft. 15 Remove six bolts. Remove bearing retainer and shims. 16 Install eyebolt in end of the drive shaft. 17 Connect a suitable lifting device to eye bolt. NOTE It may be necessary to tap power takeoff housing to unseat forward bearing cup. 18 Lift drive shaft from housing. 19 Using bearing puller, remove bearings and races from drive shaft. 20 Tap oil seal from power takeoff housing. 22 Remove two bearing access pipe plugs. 23 Using long narrow shank punch, tap out rear bearing race. NOTE Perform step 24 only if data plate must be replaced. 24 Remove four screws. Remove data plate. b. Assembly 1 If removed, install data plate. Install four screws. 2 Install pipe plugs bottom of power takeoff housing. Torque to 7.5-10 ft lb. 3 Install oil drain plug. Torque to 35-47 ft lb. 3-180
