HAUL ROAD MAINTENANCE--ROAD GRADING
CAUTION
Cutting edge assembly is intended for use in light land planing operations or to remove ruts and washboards
in haul road maintenance. It is NOT intended for use as a dozer blade in medium to heavy earth moving
operations. Failure to use in accordance with guidance will result in premature failure of the attachment.
1.
The water distributor may be configured to perform haul road maintenance. Installation of cutting edge assembly
(WP 0024 00) attachment to
bottom front of
tank allows machine to
perform road grading to
remove ruts and wash-
boards from haul roads.
2.
Prior to road grading operations, inspect haul road to determine the location of high spots to be removed and low spots
to be filled in. The more uneven the terrain, the higher the cutting edge should be above the plane established by the
tractor.
CAUTION
Do NOT turn (steer) machine while differential lock is engaged. Improper use of differential lock control
may damage components of differential lock.
3.
Lower tank in order to place cutting edge at the lowest possible setting: cutting edge is on the same plane as the wheels
of the tractor and water distributor. Place transmission in 1st gear and engage differential lock as needed.
4.
Make the first pass in the longitudinal direction of haul road. Work in the direction of travel of machines that will be
using the road. Raise tank at the end of each pass to withdraw cutting blade.
5.
Overlap subsequent passes with a 50% overlap until grading is complete.
6.
After operation, ensure that cutting edge assembly is washed clean.
7.
Continue operation on haul road as required to compact surface of haul road.
CULTIVATING OPERATIONS
1.
Introduction.
a.
The cultivator (WP 0024 00) is used to break up overly compacted soil in preparation for the addition of soil stabiliz-
ers.
b.
It is also used to turn soil over, to assist in drying soil that is too wet for compaction.
2.
Cultivating Operations.
a.
Install cultivator to bottom front of tank.
b.
Travel to job site.
CAUTION
Do not turn machine while cultivator attachment is dug into ground. Damage to cultivator may result.
c.
Lower tank in order to place cultivator discs at desired cutting depth. Place transmission in 1st gear and engage differ-
ential lock.
d.
Proceed in multiple passes, ensuring appropriate overlap at each successive pass. Raise or lower tank as required in
order to achieve desired depth of cultivation.
e.
Raise tank to withdraw implement from soil as the end of each pass.
f.
After operation, ensure that cultivator is washed clean.
