Rotate intermediate housing until 0.003 in. or less is obtained. Tighten bolts.

Repeat step 5.

Set pointer of dial indicator on intermediate housing facing.

Observing gage, turn stainless steel shaft one complete revolution.
NOTE
If reading is less than 0.003 in., go to step 16.

Remove four bolts, lockwashers, and nuts. Remove intermediate housing.

Install packing ring.

Install intermediate housing. Install four nuts, lockwashers, and bolts.

Repeat step 11.

Remove dial indicator. Remove wrapping from stainless steel shaft.

Install gasket and flange. Install six bolts and lockwashers.
NOTE
Dull or beveled side of the packing goes next to the ceramic seal.

Install ceramic seal and packing with retainer.

Wrap stainless steel shaft to prevent scratches.

Install dial indicator on stainless steel shaft.

Set pointer against packing. Set dial indicator to 0.

Push against packing with thumbs to compress ceramic seal. Check reading on dial indicator.
