JOB SITE MANAGEMENT - CONTINUED
Traffic Control.
4.
a.
Stagger machine movements at work site to ensure a smooth workflow with as few interruptions as possible. This
will also reduce traffic snarls.
b.
Keep traffic patterns safe, simple, and, if possible, flowing in the same direction.
c.
Position a ground guide at blind spots or crossings.
MACHINE SERVICES AND CONFIGURATION CHANGES/ADJUSTMENTS
1.
Machine Services.
a.
To ensure safe and efficient operation, the operator is responsible for performing Preventive Maintenance Checks
and Services (PMCS) at the job site. This will ensure the machine is ready to perform its mission and will reduce
down time due to machine failures.
b.
To facilitate performance of PMCS, ensure machine is clean. Wash machine to remove dust and dirt that could
interfere with inspections and preventive maintenance.
WARNING
Configuration changes at front of tank should NEVER be attempted without first securing the tank by block-
ing it so that it is firmly supported. Failure to follow this warning may cause death or injury to personnel.
2.
Blocking Tank.
a.
Park machine on level ground.
b.
Engage parking brake and block wheels.
c.
Raise tank.
d.
Place a block of wood centered under tank. Ensure wood is of sufficient strength to carry weight of tank, and large
enough so that tank will be supported at a suitable height.
e.
Lower tank until weight of tank is fully resting on block of wood.
f.
Move tank control lever to middle HOLD position.
g.
Place transmission control lever in N (Neutral) position. Engage transmission neutral lock.
h.
Shut down engine.
3.
Installation of Cutting Edge Assembly.
CAUTION
Cutting edge assembly is intended for use in light land planing operations or to remove ruts and washboards
in haul road maintenance. It is NOT intended for use as a dozer blade in medium to heavy earth moving
operations. Failure to use in accordance with guidance will result in premature failure of the attachment.
