If No. 1 piston is not on compression stroke, No. 1 cylinder is not at tdc. Turn flywheel 360
. Screw in timing
screw.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to equipment, remove timing screw from flywheel at completion of task.

Remove timing screw from flywheel. Place it in storage location.

Install plugs in timing hole.

Install front valve cover (para 2-103).
b. Inspection

Remove valve covers (2-103).
NOTE
Valve clearance is measured between rocker arm and bridge.

Place No. 1 cylinder at tdc (subpara a).
