3-54. INJECTION PUMP REPLACEMENT (CONT)

Unscrew oil pressure line fittings. Remove and plug oil pressure line.

Unscrew oil pressure line fittings on pump. Remove and plug oil pressure line.

Remove two injection pump mounting bolts.

Connect suitable lifting device and sling to injection pump.

Remove six injection-pump-to-injector-drive mounting bolts. Remove injection pump.

Remove lifting device and sling.
d. Installation

Set engine to tdc (para 2-104). Remove plug from side of injection pump.

Install injection pump timing tool through the hole in pump housing into the notch in the fuel injection pump
camshaft.
NOTE
If tool cannot be installed in notch of fuel injection pump camshaft, fuel injection pump is not in
time with engine. Perform steps 3 thru 23.

Remove eight nuts and washers.

Remove automatic timing advance cover.

Loosen four retaining screws until the washers are loose.

Remove two screws 1800 apart.

Install two 1/2 in.-13 NC x 3-3/4 in. long screws.

Put a bar between the screws. Turn fuel injection drive shaft right until injection pump timing tool can be
installed in fuel injection pump camshaft.

Remove the two 1/2 in.-13 NC x 5-3/4 inch long screw.

Install four retaining screws so that washers are loose.

Remove timing screw from flywheel.
12
Turn engine left 600 (as seen from front of engine).
