3-54. INJECTION PUMP REPLACEMENT (CONT)
29 Using extractor, install pump in housing.

Install seal.
CAUTION
Do not put force on bushings with a wrench to make them even with pump housing. Pump is not
installed correctly if force has to be used to install bearing. If bushing cannot be installed by
hand, remove bushing and pump. Aline grooves and install again.

Apply pressure by hand on extractor. Install bushing finger tight until bushing is even with top of housing.

Check rack travel after each pump is installed. Total rack movement should be 0.800 in.
33 Using bushing wrench, torque bushing to 140-160 ft lb.

Remove bushing wrench. Install felt seals and protection caps.

Install fuel injection pump governor (para 3-57).
b. Fuel Rack Adjustment

Remove two screws, stop, spacer, and two lockwashers.

Disconnect governor control linkage to let governor control lever move freely through its full travel.

Install bracket group and dial indicator.
