PRESSURIZED WATER SOURCE FILL THROUGH SUCTION INLET - CONTINUED
13.
Close suction loading inlet manual valve by turning handle 90 degrees counterclockwise.
14.
Disconnect pressurized water source line from suction loading inlet.
15.
Stow foot valve on suction loading inlet: turn to install, then lock camlocks.
16.
Place pump control switch to ON (pressure) position.
SUCTION LOADING (DRAFTING) USING ONBOARD PUMP
NOTE
Two personnel more easily perform this task than one. It can, however, be performed by one person
alone.
Refer to WP 0004 00 for the location and operation of water distributor controls.
Each suction hose is 8 ft (2.4 m) long. There are four suction hoses available.
Use a fresh water source to mix with soil stabilizers and dust palliatives, in accordance with manufac-
turer's instructions. It will be necessary to top load from a clean fresh water source rather than suction
load. Always refer to manufacturer's instructions for further instructions.
1.
Park machine close to water source, on level ground if possible. Lower tank to the ground.
2.
Place transmission in N (Neutral) and lock. Apply parking brake. Block wheels if on a grade.
3.
Ensure all control panel switches are in OFF position.
4.
Remove suction hoses from stowage tubes. Remove caps and plugs from hoses.
5.
Unlock camlocks, turn, and remove suction hose foot valve from stowage on suction loading inlet. Attach foot valve to
submerge end of one suction hose and lock camlocks.
6.
Assemble hose lengths and lock camlocks.
CAUTION
To prevent cavitation of pump, which may result in premature pump failure, maintain at least a 3-foot static
head of water above foot valve.
7.
Place foot valve in water source, at least 3 ft (0.9 m) below the surface.
8.
Connect other end of suction hoses to tank suction loading inlet and lock camlocks.
9.
Open suction loading inlet manual valve by turning handle 90 degrees clockwise.
NOTE
Vacuum generator releases air when turned on. This is normal.
10.
Start engine and allow engine to idle.
CAUTION
Leave elevator direction control lever in FORWARD position ONLY. This will prevent running water pump
in reverse and causing possible damage.
11.
Ensure elevator direction control lever is in FORWARD position.
12.
Place pump control lever (elevator control lever) to ON position at slow speed.
