Using a pair of long nose pliers, compress the ears of the front bearing retainer. Lift and remove retainer.

Holding front housing, tap the rotor shaft on a wooden block.

Separate front bearing from front housing.
CAUTION
When bearing is to be reused, bearing puller must contact inner race only. Improper use of puller could damage
bearings.

Using bearing puller, remove front bearing from rotor shaft.

Using long-nose pliers, compress ears of rear bearing retainer. Lift and remove retainer.

Using bearing puller, remove rear bearing.
b. Inspection and Testing

Inspect brushes for cracks and oiliness.

Measure length of brushes. Brushes should be at least 3/16 in. long.
NOTE
Brush A is insulated brush. Brush C is grounded brush.

Using a multimeter, test continuity from point A to brush C. Reading should be 0.
