Maintenance and Repair Shop 3-63 Valve lifters removed. Equipment, item 11, appendix B 2-104 No. 1 cylinder set to top dead center (tdc) compression stroke. a. Camshaft Removal 1 Remove four bolts, plate, and idler gear. 2 Remove two bolts and retainer that hold camshaft to cylinder block. 3 Carefully pull camshaft from cylinder block. 4 Inspect camshaft for damage.
